Reminding me of my high school years

If someone were to combine all my geeky high school moments into a single video, this would probably come close. Tall skinny blond guy, into a capella, who is also a geek.

It is probably a miracle I no longer live in my mother’s basement.

D.I.V.O.R.C.E

This morning I rode the Divorce Bus to work. Occasionally, CTA will allow an advertiser to completely cover the inside of the bus with just a single ad or set of ads. In this case it was a law firm that specializes in helping you end your marriage.

I really need a better camera on my next phone. It was just kind of jarring to see all these McCain-esque, blue background, ads that tell you that if you are in a bad or failing relationship to call the number to get help with ending your marriage. Hopefully, my next phone will have a better camera for when I encounter these kind of situations.

Then I saw this video:

Protest Photos and Video

This past Saturday, the Gay Liberation Network (GLN) held a protest in downtown Chicago. It was a protest of James Dobson’s inclusion into the Museum of Broadcast Communication’s Radio Hall of Fame. It was also a protest of unity against California’s Proposition 8.

Growing up in Colorado Springs, headquarters to Dobson’s Focus on the Family, my family watched as a wonderful community was torn apart when Focus arrived in town and Colorado’s Amendment 2 got started. Friendships, neighborhoods, and even families were torn apart by the anti-gay amendment and the support it received from Dobson and Focus.

So on Friday evening, when I saw information from a Twitter friend saying they were protesting Dobson, I shot an email to my mom asking her if she wanted to go. He response was a resounding “YES” followed by a comment about her dislike for Dobson (that probably should not be printed on a website that was once very Googleable).

Some photos of the event can be seen at the Protest Photos link. It includes a pic mom and me. Mom really likes how the rainbow flags look. You know you are at a gay protest when some of the signs are made with glitter.

There is also a video of the protest (you can see “Family TumbleDry” briefly at the 6 second mark).

Side Note: Getting letters, emails, IMs, and Twitter messages from friends telling me how cool my parents are never gets old... thanks everyone who sent stuff! I always forward it to mom.
